-
- GACnet.palette.dpalette is a palette for Lighthouse Design's Diagram!
- application. I developed the palette to speed the process of building
- network topology maps and to standardize the symbols used in the maps.
-
- I developed and used this palette to draw maps of the Gustavus campus
- network. I have included some of the maps I have developed as examples
- of what is possible. Most of the symbols were created using the demo
- application Draw and pasted into Diagram. I used to use a Macintosh to
- draw maps of the campus network. Maintaining the network maps was one
- of the tasks that I hade to move to the NeXT, to it possible to move
- the Macintosh SE out of my office. It is gone now.
-
- This Diagram! palette was developed using Diagram! 1.1 and NeXTstep 2.1
-
- I have been playing with the idea building a simple network monitor
- using small programs linked to a diagram of the network. These program
- could query devices on the campus network using snmp. I have written a
- few programs to do snmp queries using the CMU SNMP libraries. Another
- idea I had to to produce a guided tour of the campus network complete
- with recorded description of parts of the net.
-
- While this palette is in finished form, I plan to continue working on it
- as my needs change. I will make the latest version available by anonymous FTP
- from FTP.GAC.EDU and other popular NeXT archive sites.
